Abstract

The generic system life cycle defines six phases as concept, definition, development, production, in service and disposal. Systems engineering has to consider the needs of all stakeholders throughout the entire system life cycle. However, the Flight Test aspects relate to the engineering processes during the system life cycle phases concept, definition and development.

Flight Tests are performed in the development phase contributing to system integration. Flight Test definitions and planning is commenced in the definition phase with preceding assessments of principle risk aspects in the concept phase.

This paper emphasise on the importance of consistent systems engineering including system integration and assurance processes comprising the means and measures to verify a system. In this context assurance requirements particularly Safety Requirements together with Flight Test aspects are highlighted.
