European Chapter Subsequent Boards
by Barbra Wood
During the chapter business meeting at Marcel Dassault in Paris, June 1989, Wim said, among other things, that the Chapter was now on the road to continued success and the future looked good for increased membership and support for further symposia in Europe.

Having seen all this happen he would now be stepping down from the office of President to take up full retirement. He had enjoyed every moment of the forming of the Chapter and felt a great satisfaction on its success. Wim expressed his thanks to all Chapter members for their help and support and addressed those present regarding election of new officers. Erwin Reil and Ken Chilvers had offered to serve for a further two years.

On the question of a new President, Gösta Niss had been nominated while regarding the Vice President, a ballot by all members present was carried out to elect a new Vice President.
Based on the result of the count Giuseppe Ferretti was elected as new Vice President and welcomed to the Committee. Wim handed over the SFTE European Chapter shield to Gösta and wished him well for the future as President.

The second Board (1989-91) of SFTE European Chapter, therefore, consisted of:

Gösta NissPresident
Giuseppe Ferretti Vice President
Ken Chilvers Secretary
Erwin Reil Treasurer

In the course of this term, Giuseppe Ferretti, Vice-President left his charge as Alenia Flight Test Manager, being requested to take over a larger responsibility in his Company. For this reason he had to retire from the Board (but still remaining a SFTE member).
Pierluigi Duranti, Alenia Flight Test Engineering Manager, took over as Vice- President.
At the closure of the 4th Mini-Symposium, during the Business Meeting held in Pratica di Mare (Rome), Ken Chilvers resigned as Secretary/Membership Chairman. The other three committee members, Gösta, Pierluigi and Erwin, agreed to run for another term and were re-elected, unopposed.
There were two nominations for the Secretary/Membership Chairman post and, after due process, Barbara Wood was elected.

The 1991-93 Board, therefore, consisted of:

Gösta Niss President
Pierluigi Duranti Vice-President
Barbara Wood Secretary
Erwin Reil Treasurer
Franz Enzinger Technical Council representative

After the business meeting in Munich Jan van Twisk was then nominated Director at large, representing the Netherlands.
At the end of the 6th Symposium (September 93) in Cranfield, Gösta Niss had to retire, as required by the SFTE bylaws which prevents a president from remaining in charge longer than two terms.
