Cost Efficient Flight Test Training

Abstract

The paper will describe how the National Test Pilot School conducts its flight test training, to include the types of courses available and the resources used in various courses which run the gamut from supersonic fighter aircraft to rotorcraft to gliders, simulators and even surrogate unmanned aerial vehicles.

The emphasis of the paper will be on how cost efficiencies are achieved both by the ability to tailor training content to the customer plus the use of appropriate resources for the educational objectives. Also described will be the contributions of the school to an online flight test wiki, which has the potential to increase efficiencies throughout the entire flight test community.
